Puppy 101: Kindergarten

Class Length: Six – 50 minute sessions;
Class Size: up to 8 dogs, (minimum 4 dogs per class)

You can teach an old dog new tricks, but it’s a lot easier to establish good manners and habits while your puppy is young and impressionable. We’ll work on obedience basics while also addressing some of the less adorable aspects of having a puppy: the biting, barking, chewing, peeing, and excess energy. We’ll also lay the foundation for avoiding pesky future problems like jumping and pulling. Plenty of socialization will be provided to aid in deterring serious issues such as fear and aggression, and all in all, you’ll have a great puppy class. Oh, and we’ll have tons of fun, too!

Teenagers are challenging. The world is full of temptation and distraction: Chicken bones on the street, other dogs, pizza on the coffee table. Life is just too fun now to come when called or pay attention to commands. Our junior high class focuses on, well, focus. We’ll help your older pup learn to pay attention in the face of life’s excitements, continuing their education and socialization on the path toward becoming the easy-going, well-mannered adult dog you’re looking forward to.

All dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds, that pass the CGC Test will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. If you want to do therapy having your CGC is mandatory. Have you noticed more “pull” than “walk” in your nightly strolls? You’re not alone! Teaching a dog to walk on a loose leash is one of the most difficult lessons owners must contend with. This class will help you learn the techniques you need to teach your dog to walk politely on a leash without pulling, lunging, and dragging.
In this hands-on clinic we’ll discuss equipment options and training methods and we’ll practice techniques for keeping your dog focused on you during walks.

It will save you from exasperating games of chase when it’s time to leave the dog park. Keep your dog coming back for more, before they decide to high-tail it in the other direction! We’ll focus on Recall games and show you how you can build a solid, reliable recall in a fun and easy way!
