Enrolling in Daycare
At The Barking Dog, Ltd., we strongly feel that we have created a daycare program suitable for every breed of dog. In order to provide the best daycare experience or your dog, we do require an initial free daycare evaluation to be scheduled with one of our professional trainers prior to entering our program. Our trainers will be looking at several aspects of your dog’s personality…socialization skills, fearfulness, aggression towards humans or dogs, what commands they know or commands they respond to are a few characteristics they observe. In addition, the trainer will study the information you have provided on your registration form and then introduce your dog to dogs they believe will be a “good match”.
If your dog is accepted into the program, you will be issued key tags for easy check-ins and your dog will be allowed to come as much as you like. We do recommend your dog come at least once a week to ensure the best social experience. If it has been more than 3 months since your dog has been to daycare, you will have to schedule a re-evaluation with a trainer to enter back into the program.
In the event you dog does NOT pass the initial evaluation, unlike other dog daycares, we provide several training services in which to help your dog transition. Please see our training page for further information.
All dogs need proof of current vaccinations for rabies, distemper/parvo, and canine cough. Proof of their shot status will be required upon registration and will need to be updated as new shots are received. We request that any female in heat not be brought to daycare.
