Dog Boarding (Derry and Hooksett locations only)
Dogs boarding with us are provided with individual, spacious, indoor-outdoor runs or, for the pampered pooch, cozy inside pens with multiple trips outside. Runs are cleaned and disinfected daily. For our indoor-outdoor runs, it is our policy to allow dogs free access to both areas unless inclement weather or extreme temperatures dictate otherwise. In cold times, our runs are warmed by radiant heat from within the concrete floors. This method of heating is a comfortable and consistent form which is especially soothing to young puppies and older dogs with stiff joints. Our outdoor floors are also heated for the purpose of eliminating ice and snow build up which is essential for good sanitation. The indoor runs are air conditioned during the summer season to ensure your pet’s comfort.

The management at The Barking Dog, Ltd. is committed to providing animals with a healthy, happy boarding experience. We feel that a good diet is essential if dogs are to adapt well to their new environment. We offer high-quality dry foods to suit most any dog. If your pet eats canned food, has a special diet or is particularly finicky, you are welcome to bring food from home. We ask that you provide only what is needed for their stay, in daily portioned zip baggies, with your pet's name on them. The staff will feed your pet according to your instructions. It is our policy to offer biscuits routinely. Treats from home are always welcome and fresh water is available to pets at all times.

All dogs must be up to date on the following inoculations prior to boarding:

  • Distemper-Hepatitis-Parvo (typically combined)
  • Canine Cough (Bordetella)
  • Rabies

We provide our boarders with sheepskin-like mats for bedding. If you wish to bring bedding from home, we request it be of a size and material that can be easily washed, should it become soiled during your pet’s stay (please no sleeping bags or comforters). Toys, if brought, should be limited to two per run and should be clearly labeled with your pet's name. Please note that we are not responsible for the loss or destruction of any personal items.

Additional Services
Playtime
Playtimes are a great way to ensure your pet is enjoying his or her stay away from home. Sessions of 15 minutes, “one-on-one” with a staff member are offered with varying frequencies in our packages. This special time is particularly beneficial to new, introverted or pampered pets.

Daycare
For the high energy, social pets, we have incorporated daycare options into our boarding packages. Your pet will spend their daycare hours romping and socializing in group play with other dogs. If interested in daycare, and you are new to the program, we suggest that you bring your pet to daycare a few times prior to boarding to familiarize them with our facility and some of the other dogs in the program.

Bath Package and Grooming
For dogs staying three days or more, a bath package will be provided for free. This includes a full bath using the Hydrosurge bathing system, an ear cleaning and nail trim. For dogs staying one or two days, you may request the bath package for an additional $15.

Should your pet's skin or coat need special attention or clipping, we do offer professional grooming at all locations. Please let us know when you make your boarding reservation if you would like to take advantage or this service during your pet's stay. Grooming appointments fill up weeks in advance and last minute bookings are seldom available. If your pet is staying three days or more, you will receive a 20% discount off the grooming price.

Boarding School
If you would like one of our expert trainers to work with your dog while they are boarding, we would be more than happy to help.  To learn more about Boarding School, click here.

Please note that any canine cough vaccines must be given at least two weeks prior to boarding and are good for one year. Proof of shots is required at check-in. We are willing to administer supplied medications at no additional charge, provided we have all necessary information regarding the medication and condition being treated. Please note that we cannot board pets that require insulin shots or any other “injectables”. If your pet does have a serious health condition, please contact a manager to discuss your needs prior to boarding to make certain we will be able to accommodate you.

Sleep Overs - sleeping bag optional (Exeter location only)
Last minute plans? Why not let your dog sleepover? Once your dog meets our requirements and drops in for their free evaluation visit, they’re invited to Sleepover!

As with our daycare program, dogs that pass our evaluation will be allowed to play for the day, swim in the pool, fetch Kongs® or just hang out with their friends. Upon pick up, you will return to a tail wagging, tired dog that had more fun than they could shake a stick at!

Pricing and drop off policy
$15/day plus the cost of daycare. All sleepovers are required to check in by 12:00pm the day of their booking to ensure they have plenty of playtime before lights out. If your sleepover need is extensive, you may be referred to our boarding facilities in Hooksett of Derry, where indoor/outdoor runs are available, for the comfort and well-being of your pet.

Requirements

  • A complete vaccination record showing your dog has current Rabies, Distemper (DHLPP), and Bordetella (for Canine Cough) inoculations.
  • Our 3 part Sleepover evaluation:
    • A temperament test is performed to ensure your dog’s personality is suited to our daycare program
    • A kennel test is performed to ensure your dog is happy and comfortable in our resting pensA trial test, which consists of 3 full days of daycare in the 6 months PRIOR to their sleepover booking to ensure your dog is comfortable with all aspects of our program and routine

You should plan to bring your dog’s regular food to avoid any dietary disruptions what a sudden change in food may cause. If you prefer, we can provide your dog with Bil-Jac sold in our Exeter store. We ask that you portion out and label all food to be given to your dog. In addition, we ask you to notify us of any medical conditions and bring any medication your dog may need during their stay.

To ensure we can accommodate all reservations, it is preferred if bookings are made at least one week in advance. We will do our best with late notice bookings. To make your reservation, please call (603)773-2275 and we will be able to assist you with further information.

Cat Boarding
Separate cat quarters are provided for our feline visitors. We offer individual kitty-condos, most with window views, in a temperature controlled area, far from the noise and intimidation of our canine guests. We provide cats with a high quality, low ash/magnesium dry food. If your cat requires canned food, is finicky, or requires a special diet, you are welcome to furnish it, as well as any treats you’d like your pet to have while you are away. Fresh water is available at all times.

All kitty-condos are sanitized between visitors and cleaned daily. To ensure the health of all cats, proof of current shots is necessary at check-in. Feline distemper and rabies are mandatory and a feline leukemia vaccine is highly recommended.

Any medications will be administered according to instructions at no additional charge. Please note that we cannot board pets that require insulin shots or any other “injectables”. If your pet does have a serious health condition, please contact a manager to discuss your needs prior to boarding to make certain we will be able to accommodate you.
